Amelia Grace serves at-risk youth ages 10-14 to find hope and healing as they bond with a RESCUE HORSE, a CARING ADULT, and a LOVING GOD.
Where horses are rescued and find new purpose.
Where hurting youths are nurtured by a caring adult.
Where compassionate volunteers serve together in community.
We hope to provide a loving and caring environment with unexpected activities to help build confidence, assure the children that good in the world still exists, while pointing them to a loving creator along the way. A caring adult—or BIG BUDDY—is the anchor of our program.
Hear from some of our mentors!
“What a great experience! This was my 1st time volunteering with AGF. I was blessed to be a part of this organization and meet and be a big buddy to one of the sweetest teenagers, and also learned a lot of the benefits of therapy with horses. The staff and volunteers were so caring and loving. The little buddies and big buddies enjoyed the well-planned activities. I can't wait for the Spring Session and see what God has planned. God Bless everyone involved in Amelia Grace Farm!”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you for speaking into my son’s life! He had a positive kick in his step today! We appreciate all that you do!! Your boys are a wonderful influence in his life, and we appreciate them! He was thrilled with the Bible! You are all really storing treasures in heaven!"
“My first experience with AGF and its mentor program was this summer when I was able to volunteer as a big buddy. That experience opened my eyes to what God can do with horses. So, when I was asked to help with the Fall session, I couldn’t say yes fast enough! It is amazing to see the little buddies interact with the horses and begin to trust what the horses can do for them. I learned that I am just a facilitator, and the horses truly do all the work. I am blessed to be a part of AGF and its mentor program. I am honored that they allow me to share space with their beautiful horses."
This was another amazing event, and we thank all of you that helped to make it happen. Our kids loved it, and I found it very helpful and powerful from a parents perspective. Honestly, the event to me was another example that God is at work in our lives and helps to draw us together to help each other and make the world a better place for all.
“I met Heidi a few years ago when our girls played volleyball together. Heidi shared her vision of AGF with my husband and me, and we were amazed!
Being able to use my passion for horses to help teens and young adults heal from trauma was something God had been preparing me for my whole life. I didn’t know at the time that growing up with horses and working with teens as a high school teacher, God had a bigger plan all along. Bringing those two pieces of my life together prepared me to serve as a Mentor and Program Coordinator for AGF.
AGF has been such a blessing and answer to prayer. Working with horses and watching what they can do for a hurting person is God's work. To witness how the horse-human connection can help start the healing process for a person who has been struggling is to be in the presence of God.
My husband Tony and I were looking for a ministry to serve together. I had an extensive background in raising horses and horsemanship, and the idea of helping humans heal with horses was profound for us.
At that time, Heidi wanted to rescue a horse for the program and was looking for co-owners. We prayed about it and ultimately knew this was what God was calling us to do. Heidi and I rescued Spirit together for AGF and helped Spirit reveal her gifts as a therapy horse.
I have seen people come to AGF with no horse experience at all and change the lives of these young people and make deep, impacting connections. God has brought so many amazing people, with gifts and talents in all areas, to AGF that have helped create what it is today.
AGF has forever changed my heart. My relationship with God has deepened and become more revealing. The friends and the connections I have made at AGF are forever imprinted on my heart. I can’t wait to see what God has planned next for AGF and for the people who will come through those stable doors.”
Traditionally, foster family placements are difficult to find. Most teens reside in group home care, which presents additional challenges to living and healing. These youths are at high risk for mental illness, homelessness, trafficking, and suicide. Without a loving and nurturing environment in which to grow, many will return to the destructive relationships or behaviors modeled to them in their young lives.
Our fifth child, Amelia Grace, was found on the steps of a woman’s hospital in Kunming, China, with a fractured skull. Remarkably, this precious child beat the odds and survived her childhood. God had a greater plan for her young life and chose our family to restore her heart and soul.
Along with three caring brothers and an adoring sister, life on our family farm brought many exciting adventures, including rescuing and riding horses.
At 12, Amelia nursed back to health a starving, neglected horse she named Prince. The bond of unconditional love and trust Prince and Amelia shared helped them RESCUE each other from the pain of their past. And the name Amelia Grace Farm emerged.
With thousands in need, we'd love for you to join our team and make a beautiful impact! We are currently looking for volunteers in the San Diego and Orange County areas.
You all are the reason our program remains 100% FREE.
