What is TBRI?

Children who have experienced trauma have changes in their bodies, brains, behaviors, and belief systems. Traditional parenting strategies don’t align with many of these children's unique needs.

Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) classes offer training for caregivers of children with trauma-based behaviors.

“This trauma-informed intervention, designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children, is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research.” (The Park Adoption Community Center)

“TBRI is taught in a 4-part series based on Connecting Principles to meet attachment needs, Empowering Principles to address physical demands, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors.” (Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development)

How do we support volunteers?

At Amelia Grace Farm, we believe supporting our volunteers leads to the success of our program. We are committed to training you and guiding you to be the best Big Buddy you can be. We have 4 pillars of our volunteer support model.

1. Each group has a Big Buddy Shepherd—essentially your mentor. Your shepherd will check in with you weekly, pray for your requests and answer any questions you might have.
2. 30 minutes before each session and 30 minutes after, your shepherd will pray with you and be available to answer questions.
3. Brave Grace therapists meet with you once a week to discuss struggles you might be having and provide help.
4. Refresh—we offer our equine services to you if you feel you need time for refreshment.
